Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 June 2026
These terms govern your use of Dumbnote, a browser-based mind-mapping and note-taking tool. By using Dumbnote, you agree to them.
1. The service
Dumbnote is a free tool that runs in your browser. Your content is stored locally on your device; optional features let you sync to your own Google Drive and collaborate live.
2. Your content is yours
You own everything you create; we claim no ownership of your maps, notes, images, or files. Because your content lives on your device (and your own Google Drive if you sync), you're responsible for backing it up. Clearing browser data or losing your device may permanently delete content we cannot recover.
3. Acceptable use
Use Dumbnote lawfully. Don't use it to break the law, infringe others' rights, or attempt to disrupt or attack the service or its infrastructure. In live collaboration, you're responsible for what you share.
4. Optional Google integration
If you sign in with Google, you also agree to Google's terms. We access only
the files you create with Dumbnote (drive.file scope), and you
can revoke access anytime.
5. Availability & changes
Dumbnote is provided "as is." We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Because the core app runs locally in your browser, it keeps working offline even if our servers are unavailable.
6. No warranty
The service is provided without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data won't be lost. Keep your own backups of anything important.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dumbnote is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits rights that can't be limited under applicable law (including EU consumer protection law).
8. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of your country of residence, and nothing in them limits the mandatory consumer-protection rights you have there. We apply GDPR-level data-protection standards to all users, wherever you are, as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; continued use means acceptance. We'll update the "last updated" date when we do.
